What a great summery you made! As I am persuing a life as affiliate marketer this was very useful information to me. I knew before that Amazon has affiliate programs, so learning that Ebay also has it was great news for me. in your opinion: what is the differens between these two giants?

    • Marcus

Well, with eBay, I think the available products are going to change more often. With Amazon, it’s probably more stable and you are more likely to be able to get products consistently, whereas with eBay there are a lot of one-off sales.

This is a great site. Thank you for telling me about ebay partner network. when you do live listing on your site, does it have to be your own ebay listing or any listing that pertain to what your site is about? Can you have both amazon and ebay live listing on your site?

    • Marcus

No, it doesn’t need to be your own eBay list. You can list any product and link to any product. Thanks for your comment Dawn.

Nice post. I knew Amazon had an affiliate program, but I didn’t realize Ebay also had one. i guess I figured that Amazon was more of a store based site, while Ebay was just people selling things privately. Shows you how much I still have to learn. I will be looking into this, as I am just getting started in affiliate marketing. thanks a lot.

Yes, I think a lot of people don’t realise that Amazon has an affiliate program, but probably even fewer people people realise that eBay has one too. Most people probably think that the only way to earn money from eBay is to actually sell products yourself, but that’s just not true. You can earn a lot of money without selling anything yourself. It’s amazing really.

    Hi Marcus,

I really like your article on starting a site and more importantly eBay. I’ve never seen the eBay affiliate program explained before and it seems so easy – is it really that easy though? So do you do a link which takes you to an eBay site say through a review stating ‘buy here’ or do you make a shop front site with items from eBay shown? I’m really interested in this but wouldn’t know where to start.

      Hi Sammi,

The way you could do it is to have a niche website about particular type of product. There you could write product reviews and related articles, then show live eBay listings on your pages. When people click on these listings and get taken to eBay, if they buy something you get a commission. It’s quite easy, although the hard work comes in building up the website. That takes some time, but is worth it in the long term once you start rankiing in Google and people come to your site.

      All the best,
      Marcus.

    Hi Marcus,
I find your page very informative. For me, it was a tutorial. I admire how clear and concise your content were. You did an excellent job demonstrating how to make money on EBay and Amazon while at the same time promoting Wealthy Affiliate.

    Excellent Job. I love it.

Hi there, thank you for sharing this information about the Ebay partner network. I was wondering, what would happen if you were promoting an item within ebay and then the product is no longer available? If the seller runs out of a particular item and then the buyer goes on to purchase something else, do you still get commission for the other things that they buy?
