So you’re looking to find out how to know if a website is WordPress? Well, there are two ways to find this out, one very easy and one slightly less easy but still quite easy.
Look in the footer
Well, the first thing to do is to scroll down to the bottom of the website and look for WordPress mentioned in the footer. For example, on my website, it says “Omega WordPress Theme by ThemeHall” in the bottom right corner. On some websites, it says “powered by WordPress”.
Can’t find “WordPress” in the footer?
For some websites, this might not work. Some websites display their blog post excerpt in an infinite scroll format. This means that you will never actually get to the footer because it will always keep displaying new blog posts. Well, eventually you might be able to get to the end if you find the first blog post but that might take you a while.
Also, some website owners intentionally remove the WordPress text from the footer. Whatever the reason, you need an alternative way to find out if it is powered by WordPress. Well, you’re in luck, because I will show you exactly what to do.
Look in the source code
All you need to do is right-click on the front page of the website and select “view page source”:
Then press Ctrl-F and type in “WordPress”:
You should be able to find it mentioned in the code somewhere like this:
WordPress: best website building platform?
Did you know that 27% of all the websites in the world run on WordPress? It’s easy to see why when you consider all the great things about WordPress:
- Total beginners can have a website up and running very quickly.
- It is very easy to manage the posts and pages on a WordPress website.
- You can quickly and easily change the appearance of your website just by changing the WordPress theme.
- You can easily add additional functions to your website by installing plug-ins.
I can still remember what it used to be like trying to create websites before WordPress was around. You had to spend a lot more time creating individual pages and writing much of your own code. You couldn’t create a decent looking website unless you were quite knowledgeable about how websites work. I am so glad that those days are gone, aren’t you?
Best WordPress hosting site
When creating a WordPress website, there are two main ways you would do this:
- Create a free website on wordpress.com.
- Install WordPress on your own web hosting account.
Obviously, the easiest option is the first one because you don’t need to know anything at all. Sometimes the second option can be a bit more involved, depending on your particular web host and the WordPress installation service they provide.
If you are a total beginner and are thinking of creating a website to make a bit of money online, I highly recommend you consider the SiteRubix platform provided by Wealthy Affiliate.
They offer a managed WordPress hosting solution. What is managed WordPress hosting? According to wpbeginner.com:
“Managed WordPress hosting is a concierge service where all technical aspects of running WordPress is managed by the host. This includes security, speed, WordPress updates, daily backups, website uptime, and scalability.”
However, Wealthy Affiliate has an additional advantage in that it also comes with 50 lessons showing you step by step how to set up your website and earn money from it. All in all, it is the best all round solution for website hosting and Internet marketing training.
I have been a member of Wealthy Affiliate since January 2015, and highly recommend it.
