Have you ever wondered what the Amazon market size is? We all know Amazon is very popular, but what percentage of sales does Amazon take? Let’s take a look at some numbers…
Amazon Market Size
Amazon is one of the biggest ecommerce brands and rightly so. But, 24 years ago, its founder Jeff Bezos could not have known that this would happen. All Jeff Bezos wanted was a simple and reliable books retailer. These days Amazon is a staggering force to be reckoned with.
In the United States, ecommerce is perhaps one of the biggest modes through which customers shop, and Amazon has a huge chunk of that market. It is responsible for over 43.5% of the ecommerce market in the United States.
Amazon the eCommerce Leader
Amazon practically pioneered the ecommerce market. It invented free super saver shipping in 2002, and by 2015 it had launched its train of restaurants. In 2005, the company launched Amazon Prime, a premium membership that gives its members access to very attractive Amazon deals and privileges of all kinds. In 2016, Amazon made its first Prime Air delivery, and today the search is on for Amazon H02.
Amazon has over 304 million users, with a whopping 30 million out of that number being mobile users. Over 1 million products are added to its database each day, and the brand is projecting to have sold 12 billion products by 2020.
Despite being an American brand, Amazon has a considerable influence outside the country. It has made billions from sales in countries such as Germany, Japan, and England.
These astronomical figures have made Jeff Bezos the wealthiest man in the world with a net worth of over 100 billion dollars. The brand made over 43.7 billion in sales last year. From that amount, 256 million was added as profit to the coffers of Amazon.
Amazon is here to stay. This is no less than you would expect from a brand that caters for over 540,000 employees worldwide.
