Aw, come on…..!! I can get PAID to test beer???? Where do I apply? ๐Ÿ˜€ What an interesting list. Imagine being at a party and asking someone what they do for a living. If someone told me they were a ‘water slide tester’ I’d think they were taking the proverbial and I’d probably walk off, haha!! But it just goes to show you that there’s a need for everything, and if you don’t want to work for yourself, then it’s just about going out there and bagging your dream job. Nice ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Marcus

Yeah, but how long could you stay sober while on the job? Actually, they probably wouldn’t let you drink much of each beer, just a tiny sip. Anyway, are you sure you wouldn’t eventually get tired of the taste of beer?

  2. theicecoach

Love the jobs! Where can I apply?! My favorite is the ice cream flavor guru! I wonder where you would get training for that? I perused your site and you have a nice approach; very honest, casual and friendly. I like how you have divided up the Reviews too–super easy! Keep up the good work!

    • Marcus

Yeah, someone else said ice cream guru, but the problem is you could end up getting fat. Thanks for your kind comments about my site anyway.

  3. Yishan

It is very interesting and short article I ever read. I think I want to be an Ice cream flavor guru and Chocolate taster. I know I like sweet food. lol….I hope I am not going to get so fat.
I would like to know more answer from others.

    • Marcus

Yeah, you would definitely have to be careful with being an ice cream tester. You could get too much of a taste for the ice cream and end up eating yourself into an early (and extra large) grave.

    Hey Marcus

    Awesome topic!

I am stuck between the water slide tester, beer taster and private island caretaker.

Number one is leaning toward the water slide tester. Like you said, get to travel while trying out some of the craziest water slides out there! Man… That sounds like the winner to me!

    Thanks for a great post!

    • Marcus

The thing I wonder with all these is whether or not you would get tired of it. Do you think you would ever get to the point where you would just think “Oh no, not another water slide, here we go again!”?

  5. Riaz Shah

    Nice list here Marcus,
Ice cream flavour guru is the one for me! I love ice creams maybe because my country is extremely hot but what a way to earn a living, eh? I never knew there are actually fun jobs such as these. Minus the video game tester though, you need to be a well-known gamer with a YouTube channel for that. Would be great if you could add in more pictures or descriptions of your own though, keep up the good work!

    • Marcus

Yes, I think a lot of people are thinking that ice cream tester would be a nice one. You would have to make sure you don’t get fat though.

  6. Andy

What a fun post to come across! I actually smiled at the choice of dream jobs you listed.

My dream job is actually being able to work on my own business from home and the freedom that gives.

After reading your post I have to say I quite like the look of a Professional sleeper. That does sound quite comfortable. Speaking of which… Goodnight ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Wendy

I think I would want to be a fortune cookie writer. But yeah, these all seem like fun jobs. My boy friend would probably not mind being a beer taster. LOL! And my son, like you would love to be a water slide tester. Can you imagine getting paid for this?

But I think the same thing with affiliate marketing. I get paid to write about stuff I love! Cool.

    • Marcus

Yes, you’re absolutely right Wendy! Earning money from writing about something you love is really great. And the amazing thing is, at Wealthy Affiliate, they can really show anyone how to turn their interest or hobby into a profitable website.

  8. Lynne

This is fascinating. Who knew that such jobs really existed lol. I think if I had to take my pick I would want to be the private island caretaker and second best option fortune cookie writer. The rest of them would be fun for maybe half a day and then boring.

I did read your post about chocolate tasters and found that very entertaining.

    • Marcus

Yes, I think that’s the thing really. A lot of things which are great fun when you do them for fun, can actually end up being boring if you had to do them all day, every day. Variety is the spice of life.

  9. Neil

    Hi, Marcus

Some of these jobs sound absoultely AWESOME! Can I take all of them please??? LOL!

I think for me it would have to be the waterslide tester because I remember my brother mentioning it to me last week through a random conversation and he said there’s BIG money to be made by doing it.

But then again it sounds like a risky job too if the slide is broken. Oh well… what the heck! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  10. Bernard Eng

Wow, never thought of those kind of jobs out there! But one question, what is takes to get you into those jobs? One caught my eyes is the video game tester, but I knew previously that this is not an easy job! It wasn’t just like that we thought to be paid for just playing the video games, but we got to repeat over and over and in playing the single game. Can you imaging that completing the mario world for 100 times for all over the time? Oh my gosh!

    • Marcus

Yes, the thing with any of these “dream jobs” is that they sound great to begin with, but if you had to do them as a job you might get sick of them. You are probably right, you would have to play the same game many times and you would probably get sick of it. You would probably also need to be a well-known gaming expert with a big following on YouTube.

  11. Jason

Hi and thanks for this short but sweet review. If I had to pick i definatly do the game tester and waterslide tester. I would choose the game tester job because i like video games and this way i can get paid for doing what i like and refer my friends and family to certian games. The waterslide tester id do so i can have fun and also take my family for a fun day. Thanks again for this review.

    • Marcus

Yes, I think a lot of people would choose either the video game tester or water slide tester. I think the water slide tester is the better option in terms of your health. With video game tester you would spend a lot of time side indoors, whereas with the water slide tester you get to travel and be outdoors a lot.

  12. John Rico

Hi marcus! Having your dream job is really exciting. Because if you do what you love, you will definitely enjoy everyday in your work. I would definitely be a beer taster! Haha When i was in college, i used to drink every night with my classmates. Do you know ow much beer tasters make in year? What are the qualifications? I am literally excited right now! Haha

    • Marcus

Yes, but you wouldn’t be able to get drunk like you did in your college days. You would probably have to spit the beet out after each taste.

  13. G.C.Horton

Private island caretaker for sure! Where do I sign up? Really! I’m ready.

The other one I’d be interested in is the fortune cookie writer. Honestly, if the fortunes I get from my local Chinese restaurant are any indication, it would be an easy job. The fortunes I get in the cookies there are just stupid.

How much do these jobs pay?

    • Marcus

Well, a private island caretaker’s salary is about $100,000 per year. For a fortune cookie writer, it would be about $50,000.

  14. Elma

    Hi, Marcus!

Funny, and cool website, I think I want to be an Ice creme flavor guru. I think your website is so colorful.
It makeร‚ยดs me happy watching it. I am so disciplined in my eating so I think I would manage it, hopefully!
I wish you very much luck with your site.

  15. Alan

I knew about some of these jobs but what really surprised me was Proffessional sleeper it crossed my mind but i just thought it was a dumb idea, but in fact it does exist looks appealing to be honest , with all that much sleep one would never ever feel tired again, and it looks like they get paid fairly well for that job in my opinion i guess anyway it may be hard to find that job as im sure there are millions applying to it.

  16. David

I think that chocolate tester sounds good to me! Or beer taster… Private island caretaker: I would feel too lonely I think… Anyway, very original article about jobs we don’t think about! I will think of one of these for my retirement! But I think that the best job for me would be… blog writer! So I could write about crazy jobs like this!

  17. Raquel

Wow, would really love to have those dreams jobs for real I think I saw something similar way, way back about taking care of a private remote island and its the beach life every single day. So for me, its a toss among the private island caretaker, ice cream flavour guru, and the chocolate tester. Love chocolates and ice cream!

    • Marcus

Don’t you think you would eventually get sick of eating chocolate or ice cream? Also, with the private island caretaker, don’t you think you would eventually get sick of the island? I’m just wondering if all dream jobs have down sides. Or maybe I am just trying to make myself feel better ๐Ÿ˜‰
